In memory of

Donald John Michael Farnsworth

November 23, 1938 -  July 3, 2022

FARNSWORTH, Donald John Michael

Michael was born on November 23, 1938 in Kingston, Ontario and passed away peacefully on July 3, 2022 in Toronto. Predeceased by his parents Donald A. Farnsworth and Anne Elizabeth Farnsworth (Stinson) and his brother-in-law John Cosser.
He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Stephanie; his son Geoffrey; his daughter Gillian, daughter-in-law Stacey; granddaughters Skye, Charley and Rae; sisters-in-law Mary Lou Dickinson and Diane Cosser; nieces and nephews; their children and many valued friends.

Michael was raised in Val d’Or, Quebec; Kenya; Eastern Ontario and Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec.

A mining engineer from McGill, with an MBA from Western, Michael worked five decades in the mining industry in various capacities with Inco, Cominco, and Placer Dome. He set up his own consulting business in 1999 which he ran for 15 years.

He married Stephanie, whom he had known since childhood. Moves in the mining world took them from Ontario out West to BC - to Kimberley, Pine Point (NWT), Trail, northern Vancouver Island and back to Kimberley before moving to North Vancouver in 1975. After 50 years in the West they moved to Toronto in 2016 to be near family.

Michael enjoyed travelling on business and particularly loved exploring with Stephanie throughout Canada and Europe and many other regions of the world. In so doing, they learned and experienced other cultures, histories, geographies and they loved the sense of adventure.

Michael had many interests: politics, current events; sports, outdoors; eldercollege; and like Stephanie, he enjoyed painting and sharing the arts with his family.

My sister could not have chosen a better husband and "father one day to be" and travel companion and friend. They enjoyed a long marriage and a friendship that extended back to childhood. I'll sure miss him. Love you, Michael.
