In memory of

Donald George Fisher

December 12, 1946 -  June 13, 2022

After a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Don passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side.
Don was a loving husband to Bonnie for 54 years, beloved Dad to Paula (Jeff) and proud Poppy to Brandon (Mr. B) and Connor (Mr. C). He was predeceased by his parents Dorothy and George and is survived by Lee (Sister Dear), sister-in-law Denise, nephews Darryl and Todd and his many friends.
Don was better known as “Fish” and was a dedicated husband, dad and poppy and his family were the centre of his universe. Don’s proudest moment came when his grandsons were born and he had 2 “little buddies” who were his everything. Don was a dedicated “Hockey Poppy” who cheered his little buddies on as they flew down the ice. Fish became a friend to everyone who was lucky enough to meet him and after 5 minutes he made you feel like he had known you forever. Don spent 30 years of his life on the waters of Lake Ontario serving as part of the Toronto Harbour Police and Toronto Police Service. The years after his retirement were spent woodworking in his “office” and walking every day until he completed the distance of the circumference of the earth. Parkinsons may have slowed him down but never dimmed his love and enthusiasm for his family and friends and the family is touched by all of the memories being shared.
Friends may call at the ELGIN MILLS FUNERAL CENTRE, 1591 Elgin Mills Road East, Richmond Hill (SE Corner of Elgin Mills and Leslie) 905-737-1720 on Monday, June 20, 2022 for a visitation starting at 1:00pm. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00 pm with an interment to follow. A link to the live webcast will be available on the top of the homepage beginning at 1:45 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Farley Foundation or Parkinsons Canada would be appreciated by the family.

Met Don after I retired and joined him in his part time job. I was impressed with his dedication to detail and how he enjoyed just walking. He will be missed, great man and was always willing to help. My condolences to his family, I know he will be missed, but we will enjoy his memories for a long time.

Don was one of our Retention Officers for the big races held at Woodbine and Mohawk. His sense of humour was second to none and he always kept us entertained. It was a pleasure to have Don included in the group.
My deepest condolences to Don’s family.

When Jim and I reminisce of Pigeon Lake Trailer Park, ‘Fish’s name will come up every time. We remember happy times of baseball played during the summer (and winter) and speak of the yearly Saturday afternoon in August “party” which took many of us down by supper. Fish would add his colourful commentary for a great time. He was known around the park as the first and last to hold out for sporting shorts during the trailer season and for his signature aviator sunglasses. Always a greeting to those who passed by, Fish our memories of you are remembered with love.

So sorry to hear, and thinking of you family in the sad loss of Don. A huge void for you all.
I do remember laughter when with Don. I could see a proud Papa and devoted husband as he shared on facebook.
Rest in peace free from your struggles Don.
May you find strength in his life well lived, good memories and the love you share.
Blessings,
Joanie
