At age 67, Don passed away peacefully on October 17, 2019 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa with his family by his side after a short but courageous battle with stomach cancer. Devoted husband to Diana, cherished father to Deborah (Matt) and loving grampy to Hunny, Roxy and Bradley. He will be deeply missed by his brother Greg (Jane) and his niece and nephew, Jill and Jeff. Dear brother-in-law to Joan (Bob), loving uncle to Will (Lori) and Ken (Sophie), and caring great-uncle to Jordyn and Jessie. Don is predeceased by his parents Garnet and Agnes Banks and his younger brother Brian Banks. Don will be missed by family and friends who had the pleasure of knowing him. Don would not want to be remembered in sickness but rather for his love for his family and his love of golf. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday October 26, 2019 at Thornton Funeral Centre in Oshawa, Ontario. Family and friends are welcome to drop in between the hours of 1pm-4pm to share stories and celebrate Don’s life. Golf attire is encouraged as is the colour purple, in honour of Don’s fight with stomach cancer. Donations may be made in Don’s memory to Humane Society of Durham Region or Canadian Cancer Society.
