In memory of
Donald Dolson
March 2, 1932 -
March 10, 2022
It is with great sadness that we tell you about the passing of Donald (Don) George Dolson. Dad, Don, Grandfather, Friend passed away in the early morning of March 10, 2022, in his own bed, at his home in Uxbridge with family at his side.
On March 2, Don accomplished his most recent milestone wish, his 90th birthday. He enjoyed 2 wonderful parties with family, friends and neighbours.
Don was a wonderful man, happy, calm, gentle and caring. An active member of the Port Perry United Church.
Don was the youngest of 9 children. He is survived by his sister Joyce; son Brad and his wife Shelly; step-children Karen, Lisa and Jennifer; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife Gale Dolson (nee Lawrence), his daughter Rhonda Fraser, his second wife Verna Harrison Dolson, and his 7 brothers and sisters Doug, Walter, Victor, Rita, Ethel, Freida and Jean.
Don often said he lost 2 women in his life, his first wife Gale and his daughter Rhonda; but gained 4 women, his second wife Verna and her 3 daughters Karen, Lisa and Jennifer.
Don loved to travel, with Gale, his sister Joyce and Verna. Don and Verna made yearly visits to Lisa’s home in France.
Don was a great father. Brad remembers playing street hockey, going skiing and playing baseball to name a few.
He was active in both curling and lawn bowling and a dedicated supporter of Community Care.
Don liked beautiful things and was a patient shopper (lol). Don loved music, especially Andre Rieu. Don loved sweets, Shelly’s ice cream, chocolate and his fall fair red-ribbon butter tarts. He was Mr. Fix-it, and loved to create and build bird houses. He loved jigsaw puzzles and word searches. You will remember his favourite sayings: “and that is the state of the constitution”, “that is a bugger” and “whatever”.
He was a man with an enormous sense of humour, loved to joke, watch comedy and especially enjoyed affectionate teasing with his 3 walking buddies, Gerry, Fred and John.
So when you think of Don, we hope, a memory will sneak out of your eye and roll down your cheek.
A Celebration of Life for Don will be held at the Simple Alternative Funeral Centre, 1535 South Gateway Road, Mississauga on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangement have been entrusted to the Low & Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Box 388, Uxbridge L9P 1M8 (905-852-3073).
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Community Care, Uxbridge would be appreciated.
