In memory of

Donald Angus Cameron McLean

December 17, 1940 -  January 23, 2021

The Lord is my Shepherd. I shall not want. Psalm 23:1
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Donald McLean due to complications from the coronavirus.
Born in Dingwall, Scotland at the height of WWII to Margaret (Peggy) and Donald McLean. Five years later, his sister, Anna, arrived on the scene. The family of 4 emigrated to Canada in 1959 to start a better life. They settled in Brampton, Ontario and Donald found work with a local surveying company. In 1963, he joined Northern Electric where he worked until his retirement in 1995.
Having never married, Donald enjoyed spending time with his parents and Anna’s family of Herbert, Emma-Jane, and Sheila. He was devoted to his parents with whom he lived until they passed away. He was a doting Uncle who enjoyed spoiling his nieces, especially if it aggravated his sister! The two families spent many fun vacations together, enjoyed Sunday night dinners, and celebrated special occasions. When the next generation of children came along, Uncle Donald enjoyed playing with his great nieces, Rachel, Heather, and Alannah.
When Donald wasn’t working or spending time with the family, he was an avid reader, photographer, and history buff, especially of the American Civil War. He played the bagpipes and often piped at Robbie Burns suppers and curling events. He also enjoyed travelling, including trips to Scotland, Newfoundland, Gettysburg, and the Caribbean.
Despite all of his health issues, Donald was a valued member of our family and he will be missed! He will also be remembered by his extended family in Scotland.
We offer our deepest gratitude to the staff at Burton Manor for their care and support of Donald over the years.
A private family service will be held.
If you wish to make a donation in his memory, please consider donating to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. https://standrewsbrampton.ca/donate/

"An Uncle is a blessing, it means so many things. Words could never tell, the joy an Uncle brings. An Uncle is a bond of faith that even time can't sever. A gift to last all of our lives, an Uncle is forever." - Irene Banks
