At 11 pm on May the 6, 2022, at Baycrest Palliative Care Unit in Toronto, Dominique passed away. Her beloved son Noah was at her side as he had been in the recent days to accompany his mom on what he and she began to realize would be their last journey together. Dominique's longstanding companion of almost 25 years, became what Dominique called one of her two guys. Together they faced the painful news at Sunnybrook in early April that the health situation was indeed very serious. Dominique returned home and with Noah and Bryan they faced the following days until it was necessary to move to Baycrest to receive superb support and help in the final three days of her life. Dominique was predeceased by her beloved brother Jean Philippe in 1967. Her adored parents, Marguerite and Albert Laborde (deceased) had the joy of being with Dominique many times over the following years, before she settled in Canada in 1969 with her loving husband Max Gurza who passed away in 1993. Their son Noah was born in Toronto on May 30, 1975, and was the constant companion, friend, confidante and supporter of his mother and she of him. They frequently returned to France together o celebrate festivities and spend wonderful times together as a family. In the late 90's, Dominique met Bryan Massam, who was her loving, caring partner for the rest of her life, and she of him. Dominique was welcomed with open arms by Bryan's children Alexandra (and her partner Martin) and Laurent (and wife Joanna) and became the beloved Nana to Laurent and Joanna's children, Alexa, Elise, and Luc in Toronto and Alexandra and Martin's children, Katherine and Mathieu, in Calgary. Family and many friends in parts of Canada, France, UK and around the world all recognize her warm, kind, caring, and generous spirit and mourn her passing with profound sadness.

In lieu of flowers, contributions could be made to Baycrest Hospital - www.baycrest.org as a mark of appreciation for the wonderful care provided to Dominique.

Dominique was such a lovely friendly person. We often walked home from “class”together chatting and sharing stories with each other. I loved hearing about her trips home to France. I will miss her friendship. I am so sorry for your loss.
