Dolores Dela Cruz
April 30, 1930 - May 22, 2020
Dolores Dela Cruz passed away peacefully at Carefree Lodge Long Term Care Home on Friday May 22, 2020 at the age of 90.
Predeceased by her husband David Dela Cruz, and cherished mother of Rosalinda, Isagani, David Jr., Sylvana, Jose, Ronald, Shirley & Sarah. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all her children, daughters and sons in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dolores was born in the Philippines on April 30th, 1930. She met and married the love of her life, with whom she raised their 8 children. Even in the Philippines, she was an avid classic Hollywood movie cinema goer, and spoke of her family with great pride and love. Shortly after the loss of her husband on June 27th, 1977, Dolores courageously migrated to Canada.
Dolores loved the city, as she made her home next to Nathan Phillips Square, and developed fond memories of having worked at The Bay. Dolores never left the house without an attractive shade of lipstick, and she always approved of a colourful scarf, large earrings, and decorative jewelry.
Dolores was well-known as “Nanay” by her children, “Lola” by her grandchildren, and Dolly by her friends. Our Nanay, and Lola, has impacted our lives so deeply; she has left a beautiful legacy behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to March of Dimes Foundation or Parkinson Canada in memory of Dolores Dela Cruz.
The entire family extends immeasurable gratitude to the compassionate staff at Carefree Lodge Long Term Care Home, who cared for Dolores over 15 years.

Arrangements have been entrusted with Pine Hills Funeral Centre. The Visitation and Service is a private event and is by invite only.
