In Loving Memory

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Doan Duc Ong (Niagara Falls, Ontario), who passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of January 3, 2022. He was 49.

Beloved husband to Yvonne for 22 wonderful and adventurous years. Proud father to Sean and Yvy. Devoted and cherished son to father, Minh and mother, Anh. A wonderful son in law to Duc and Nho Ly. Loving brother to Trinh and caring brother-in-law to Anh & Cat, Johh &Hang, Linh & Peter, Duke & Hien and Wilcox. Forever remembered by his nephews and nieces.

Doan was an IT consultant for 20+ years but found most joy working with his hands on odd projects around their home in Niagara Falls with his family. After living in the city for much of his life, Doan found peace living in a larger rural space and looked forward to spending more time with his family and friends. Although he was ambitious and unafraid to speak his mind, he also had a playful side with a memorable and unique sense of humour that couldn’t help but rub off on you. Always a student of life, Doan never met a problem that he couldn’t solve. Unequivocally loyal and faithful to God, Doan always looked to better himself, was supportive of others and shared his wisdom without judgement. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A private memorial service will be held at 12:30pm on Friday January 14, 2022 at Meadowvale Cemetery and Funeral Centre, immediately followed by Burial service. Friends and family are invited to this outdoor service at approximately 2pm.

The Ong Family greatly appreciates your outpouring of prayers, love and support during this difficult time.

Doan wanted to make the world a better place for all the children. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to:

And will be also live streamed on our families' facebook pages.

To hear of Doan’s passing came as quite a shock to myself and many of our old Glenhaven Sr. public School and Glenforest Secondary School classmates. Still haven’t wrapped my head around it. He is gone far too soon. My sincerest condolences to his lovely wife Yvonne, their beautiful children Sean and Yvy, as well as the rest of his family and friends. I last saw Doan around 10-12 yrs ago or so during one of our reunion-type gatherings, and he hadn’t changed at all. He still had the huge smile that lit up the room and he was as outgoing and friendly as he always was back in the day. I’m sad we didn’t keep in better touch - he wasn’t on Facebook much unfortunately - but I will always cherish our friendship and will keep a special place for him in my heart. Speaking on behalf of all his Glenhaven/GFSS friends, I can easily say he will be missed and our collective love/prayers are with you all. Godspeed and God bless Doan…rest in peace old friend.
