Passed away peacefully at home. Beloved husband of 69 years to the Late Maria (2020). Predeceased by his son Pete (2024). Dear father of Tom (Late Kathy) and Freida (Tom). Grandfather of James (Laura), Jennifer, Tanya (Colin), Nicholas, Stephanie (Mano), Alexander and Samantha. Adored Great-grandfather of Leah, Claire, Poppy, Beatrice and Arya.

Dedo Deme.

Truly, a gentleman among gentlemen. A caring, kind and loving family man.

I had the privilege of calling him “Dedo” before anyone else did. Although he was technically my Great Uncle, those who know the Macedonian traditions know that we we refer to the brothers and sisters (and their spouses) of our grandparents in the same way. As the youngest of my Dedo Vangel’s four brothers, I got to meet Dedo Deme as a 2 year old, when he first came to Canada in the early ‘60’s, making preparations to bring Baba Demaitsa, Tom, Peter and Frieda here from Armensko. While not yet old enough to remember myself, when he would take me to the park I would call the then 33 year old handsome young man my “Dedo”, drawing some raised eyebrows from people in the park who knew that Dedo meant grandfather, and that he was clearly too young to be one! Dedo Deme pridefully recounted this story many times over the years, as have I.

Dedo, I will miss you, but truly believe you are in a better place. God’s House is getting crowded. May you Rest In Peace for eternity. ❤️🙏
