Devan Evadne Smith was born in Lottery, St. James, Jamaica, on October 2, 1945, to Muriel Campbell and Laban Smith, and passed away on September 26, 2026.
Affectionately known as Ms. Cherry, Devan was a loving, generous, and welcoming woman whose vibrant spirit touched everyone she met. Her beautiful smile, infectious laughter, and unforgettable cooking made her home a place of comfort, joy, and togetherness.
Devan was a devoted mother to Marcia, Lancelot, Garfield, Althea, Desmond, Ronnie, and Richard. Through them, she was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and happiness.
She cherished her family deeply. Devan was predeceased by her siblings Lansford Murray, Richard Smith, Carmen Taylor, Sonia Taylor and Winsome Smith. She is lovingly remembered by siblings: Lorna Fernandes fondly known as Charmaine, Michael Smith, Patricia Smith, Glenton Smith, and Andrea Smith.
A devoted member of Grace Fellowship Church of God Ministries, Devan’s faith was the foundation of her life. She served with humility, worshipped with conviction, and lived in a way that reflected her deep love for God.
Devan leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, laughter, and cherished memories—one that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
