In memory of

Derek William Brown

November 16, 1936 -  December 30, 2016

Derek William Brown

Born November 16, 1936 in Hatfield, England to his parent Gladys and William Brown. He always reminisced fondly of his time in England with his brother Tony, but at the age of 18, Derek’s parents and Tony moved to Canada. Derek’s prized possessions and some of the only things that he brought with him were his incredible collection of jazz records indicative of a love of music.
Derek was educated and trained as a steamfitter, but always had a passion for cars. When Tony & Derek were young, they were known as the Brothers Brown, a formidable drag racing team in the 60's. Eventually, Derek turned his passion into his lively hood. Derek was a talented mechanic and a creative artist in the Street Rod industry. He had a passion for really good food and wonderful spirits.
Derek married Sharon in 1976 and they have shared a lifetime of close family and friends, beautiful vacations and travels around the globe and hosted some of the best parties.
Derek will always be loved by his wife of 40 years, Sharon, his best-friend and brother Tony, his niece and her family, Lorraine, Tim & Noah and his brother-in-law, Brian.

I first met Duke in 1984 as a young soldier looking for a car club to join with my 46 international. He introduced me to John MacAulay at Centennial Street Rodders and gave me advice on installing a clip. He was always there if you had any questions. Over the years my wife Linda and I have looked forward to the The Road Mates annual end of summer BBQ and get together. We all have lost a great friend and fellow car enthusiast. RIP may there always be a road.
