In memory of
Denny Tai Fung Kwan 關泰峯先生
December 2, 1984 -
June 28, 2024
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Denny Tai Fung Kwan, who left this world far too soon. Denny passed away peacefully on June 28th, 2024, after a courageous six-month battle with complications as a result of a severe infection.
Despite succumbing to the terrible disease, he will not be remembered as a patient; he will be remembered as a fighter who did not give up nor complained, a devoted husband who did not forget to smile even in adversity, a loving father who endured all the pain humanly unimaginable in hopes to be reunited with his family. His loved ones and medical staff who witnessed the many miracles Denny created during his treatment will sing of his bravery. He inspired all those around him with his positive attitude and virtuous character, even during the most challenging moments of his life.
Born in Hong Kong on December 2nd, 1984, Denny was nurtured in a loving household where he grew up to be a polite and well-mannered young child. He immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of 8 and grew up in Richmond, B.C. Denny excelled academically, earning his bachelor’s degree from UBC Sauder School of Business before moving to Toronto, where he earned his CPA designation and later an MBA from Rotman School of Management University of Toronto.
Devoted professionally in the financial industry, Denny has been residing in Toronto since 2006, working at some of the leading banking institutions in Canada. Known for his diligence and strong work ethic, Denny was successful in his career and a beloved friend and mentor. His friends admired and looked up to him, drawn to his conscientious nature and unwavering support.
Beyond his professional achievements, Denny was a loving husband, a proud father, a filial son, a caring brother, and a loyal friend. He had a clear vision and goal in life, and his dedication, discipline, and tenacity inspired all those around him. Denny also loved snowboarding, badminton, and the occasional table games. He met his wife, Shirley, at a high-school reunion ski trip, where they discovered a love for each other. They eventually married and gave birth to a beautiful and cheerful daughter, Luna. His family was his most incredible pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them as he was always the avid holiday planner.
Denny is survived by Shirley and Luna, his parents, Edwin and Tammy, and his loving brother, Jacky. He will be greatly missed by members of his extended family, friends, and colleagues. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at the Elgin Mills Funeral Centre, 1591 Elgin Mills Rd East, Richmond Hill, ON, on Saturday, July 6th. Visitation commences at 10:00 AM, followed by funeral service from 11:00 AM to Noon, during which family and friends are invited to share their memories and pay their respects.
