In loving memory of DENNIS CHONG-KIT

On November 18, 2020, Dennis Fu Chong Chong-Kit passed away peacefully at home at the age of 85 surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Wan Mary, his wife of 64 years. Loving father of Gordon (Suzie), Richard (Ann), Suzie and Marian (Elite). Cherished grandfather of Justin, Tianna and Ryan. Predeceased by his parents James Chong-Kit and Leung Hop, brother (Chong Ku). Survived by several sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces and cousins in Canada, Trinidad and USA.

Dennis was born in Guangdong, China, the youngest of two sons. He went to Trinidad in 1949 to join his father James, and then immigrated to Canada in 1971 in pursuit of a better life. Working hard to raise a young family and build a future. Prior to retiring, Dennis worked in the institutional nutrition services sector for many years.

Dennis took pleasure in the simpler things in life. He was an avid fan of all Toronto sports teams and loved tending to his garden, a good barbeque, enjoyed Sudoku and crosswords to keep the mind sharp, a stimulating conversation on politics and most of all spending time with his family. He was also great with anything mechanical or electrical --- and will be remembered as the dad and grandpa who could fix anything!

He will always be remembered for his devotion to his family and will truly be missed but will live forever in our hearts. His kind, honest, giving and generous spirit along with a sense of humour made everyone around him feel better and happy. He will be deeply missed by many who were fortunate enough to have had him in their lives.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family funeral service by invitation only will be held on Monday, November 23, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Road, Toronto, ON.

Special thanks to the Sinai Health team – Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Homecare who helped to make it possible for Dennis to be at his home of 47 years, surrounded by his family.

As we look back over time
We find ourselves wondering …..
Did we remember to thank you enough
For all you have done for us?
For all the times you were by our sides
To help and support us …..
To celebrate our successes
To understand our problems
And accept our defeats?
Or for teaching us by your example,
The value of hard work, good judgment,
Courage and integrity?
We wonder if we ever thanked you
For the sacrifices you made.
To let us have the very best?
And for the simple things
Like laughter, smiles and times we shared?
If we have forgotten to show our
Gratitude enough for all the things you did,
We’re thanking you now.
And we are hoping you knew all along,
How much you meant to us.
