In memory of

Demetre Hatzimalis

January 17, 1938 -  April 9, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Demetre Hatzimalis on April 9, 2024. Born on January 17, 1938, in Peristeri, Greece, Demetre was the beloved son of Nikolaos and Afrodite. He was a cherished partner to Sophia, a dear brother to George (Vicki) and Soula (late Andreas). Demetre was previously married to Malvina with whom he shared beautiful children, Nick (Rose) and Solon (Sherri). He was a cherished grandfather to Justin, Danny, Tommy, Arielle, Isabelle, and predeceased grandson Matthew. Demetre was held dear by many families and friends.

A humble soul, Demetre immigrated to Canada in 1965 where he dedicated his life for his family as a business owner and entrepreneur. His hard work and dedication will forever be remembered by those who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and perseverance that will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

During this difficult time, the family is grateful for your support and kindly requests that contributions be made to The Hospital for Sick Children or Mackenzie Health in memory of Demetre. The family would like to express their gratitude to all the caregivers at Mackenzie Health for their compassionate care over the past few years. Demetre’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
