In honouring my dad‘s memory, I would like to share his life with all of you. My father was born Demetre Georgiopoulos on November 30 in 1937 in a small village in Milioti, Kalamata, Greece. His parents Theodora and George Georgiopoulos had four children my dad being the eldest, Next was his sister Alexandra next was his brother Haralambopoulos and his sister Dionissia. He found solstice in the mountains and nature and he love the outdoors. He was in listed in the Greek Navy and enjoyed serving his country. He moved to Athens after his service and started working as an accountant where he met Sotiria, they were married in 1963. After their marriage they moved to Toronto Canada for a better life. He worked for American Standard, while Sotiria had three children Dora, George and Diane. He was hard-working and enjoyed family time. He was a faithful and religious man who gave kindness and helped whoever needed it. He owned businesses and travelled back-and-forth to Greece. He owned olive trees and was very proud every time we received a shipment of olives and olive oil saying “Olive oil and olives from Milioti is medicine to the body“ he loved to cook, enjoyed parties and having a good time. He loved everybody and enjoyed conversations about politics, philosophy and health. As his children got married he enjoyed being a grandfather to Soraya
Noah and Suzanna who he was extremely proud of. Turning 80 was a milestone, he enjoyed the surprise party with friends and family, food and dancing. Some of his advice included “Love everybody” “Work hard” and “Be happy”. Thank you for being the best husband, dad and the best Papou. We love you and will miss you dearly REST IN PEACE
