In memory of

Delio Sanz

December 5, 1931 -  July 30, 2023

Delio Sanz, survived by his wife Irmhild, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren

Delio was born in Madrid in 1931. As a small child, he and his brother moved to France and lived with his uncle helping on the farm.

Like many European men of his time, he decided to move to Canada and he boarded a ship, leaving all he knew behind.

Delio met his first wife and had three children, Lisbeth, Mark, and Gary. He built a beautiful home in Sudbury and spent many happy years there.

Working at CIL for many decades he traveled all over the world.  He attended many conferences and was sought after for his knowledge on industry-wide issues.

In 1989 while attending a business Christmas party, the most beautiful woman walked into the room on the arm of her brother. It was Irmhild. It was love at first sight for Delio.  It took less than an hour and he had her in his arms waltzing around the dance floor.

It has been a story of undying love and compassion since that moment.  Married in 1992, they recently celebrated their 30th anniversary by renewing their vows of "NOW & FOREVER".

Irmhild has tenderly loved, cared and worked by Delios side, traveling throughout the US, Canada, and Europe, supporting Delios successful business venture, Acid Technologies, and the many patents Delio had. This was how Delio retired!!

Irmhild has always been so proud of Delio and all his accomplishments.   He taught Irmhild how to weld as they would work side by side installing huge heat exchangers at factories overnight, so they could be operational in the morning.  Although not a licensed Engineer,  his knowledge and dedication to the industry made him a respected leader.  When Delio spoke, people listened.

These past 25+ years they have lived in Aurora quietly, enjoying each other, their backyard, their friends, and neighbour's company.

Delio is missed deeply by Irmhild, family and friends. May your soul be in peace.

I love you my lieberlien, Irmhild xo

I met Delio and Irhmild at his end-of-life stage. Even in his dying bed, I saw pure love between the duo. Irmhild is loving, kind, and compassionate towards her heartthrob, Delio. Though Irmhild was frail in her sick bed, she was more concerned about Delio's well-being. Delio must have modeled this kind of love and care for Irmhild to emulate. I remember her saying to me that my husband is a kind man.

To Irmhild and their dear children, I pray that the Lord will grant your entire family the fortitude to bear this loss.

May his lovely soul find eternal rest!

Smartest man I'll ever meet. He was strict but fair and always knew what was going on. Enjoyed working with him and learning all he could teach. Very glad to have spent the time that I could with him. Will miss you greatly. Love you.
