Dr. Deepa Grewal, Age 53 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 4, 2024 at Markham Stouffville Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 5, 1970 in India to Mr. Daljeet S Grewal and Mrs. Tripet Grewal. They moved to Canada in 1971. She was predeceased by her brother Gursharun.

Dr. Grewal graduated with a medical degree specializing in Paediatrics from the American University of the Caribbean. She had many academic accomplishments and eventually joined Markham Stouffville Hospital in 2005.

She earned the role of Chief of Paediatrics at MSH and held it gracefully for nine years. Dr. Grewal was an active mentor in the University of Toronto medical education program. Her collaborative approach was instrumental to the development of policies and procedures for Childbirth and Children’s services at MSH. Through her vision and leadership she helped establish the Pediatric Assessment Clinic (PAC) which helped to provide service for over 8,000 patients a year.

Dr. Grewal was a proud mother to Ria (14 yrs) and Aman (8 yrs). She loved them fiercely and they gave her strength with every breath.

Dr. Grewal’s personality brought warmth and joy to everyone she encountered. Her positivity, warmth and laughter was contagious to all around her. Her passing will be mourned deeply by everyone who knew and loved her.
