In memory of

David William McNeil Darnley

October 23, 1946 -  March 22, 2024

David William McNeil Darnley, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend, peacefully departed from this world on March 22, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on October 23, 1946, in Toronto to David R.M. Darnley and Dorothy Winifred Darnley (nee Bovair), Dave's journey through life was one defined by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.
Growing up alongside his siblings in Toronto, Kingston, and Pembroke, Dave's presence touched the lives of many. His innate warmth and kindness endeared him to all who knew him.

A true family man, Dave found immense joy in the company of his loved ones. He is survived by his devoted children, David Jr (Kathleen) and Lyndie; his grandchildren Ryan, Cassie, Zach, and Jaid; and great-granddaughters Olivia and Savannah. He is survived by siblings Doug (Brenda), Donald (Chris), Diane (Vincent), Drew (Sharon), Donna (late Antonio), and Dennis (Edgar), the mother of his children Heather Darnley ( nee Weisenberg) and his very close friend and former partner Kelly Fisher. His presence enriched our lives, and we will carry his memory in our hearts forever.

Dave's dedication extended beyond his family, as he spent 37 years serving Scarborough, Toronto Hydro, where he was admired for his hard work, dedication, and sense of humour. Upon retirement in 2001, Dave fully embraced his passions, from coaching hockey to restoring old cars, travelling, and simply cherishing moments with friends and family.

He loved to play and coach hockey. From his beloved Winterhawks to various youth teams throughout his lifetime, he left an indelible mark on the lives of many athletes. Dave's commitment to his community knew no bounds, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.

A celebration of Dave's remarkable life will take place on April 27, 2024, from 11 am to 1 pm at Pine Hills Cemetery 625 Birchmount Rd, Toronto, ON M1K 1R1, where friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by him are invited to share cherished memories and bid him a fond farewell. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethany Lodge https://www.zeffy.com/en-CA/donation-form/897c8339-068d-44e1-b089-5ef680e75ee5 in memory of David W Darnley, honouring his spirit of generosity and compassion.

Though Dave may have departed from this world, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those fortunate enough to have known him. His laughter, wisdom, and kindness will echo in the hearts of all touched by his presence, ensuring that his memory lives on for generations.

Dave, Dad, Poppy, Papa D, brother, friend and Coach Dave will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

This is very sad news. Dave was our neighbour for many years in Pembroke, and we couldn't have asked for a better one. He was always in good humour, and whether it was diagnosing a minor electrical issue or pulling cedar shrubs out of the backyard, he always helped out. The whole neighbourhood missed him when he moved out of here, and the place wasn't the same without him. My condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

It’s a sad day today, hearing of Dave’s passing. I spent my favourite years playing ball, having really great people around me and being Umpired by the BEST blind umpire ever. I’m glad you were part of my life Dave♥️
