In memory of

David Richard Small

December 11, 1941 -  January 23, 2024

Born David Richard Small on 11th of December, 1941 during the Second World War to Stanley and Margaret Small. He was originally from New Addington, England and was the older brother of Andrea and Philip.

He was always inspired by the natural world: air, land, and sea. As a boy, he loved pirate stories and enrolled in the Sea Cadets. With the spirit of adventure, he left his home for Canada at the age of 25. He chose a career in the weather services and worked as an Aviation Forecaster for Environment Canada.

He was an avid reader, hiker, cyclist, and motorcyclist. He took great interest in politics and in social causes.

Many people said that he was the kindest gentleman they had ever met: always actively helping neighbours, friends, family, and in-laws with anything they needed. This included a hand, a lift, a place to stay, and a listening ear.

David leaves behind his beloved wife, Nisha; daughter, Renasha; son-in-law Martin; grandson Ronan; and stepson, Inteaz.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around you and whispered
“Come to me.”
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard-working hands now rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.

God only takes the best for sure. Dave will always be remembered for his extreme kindness to one and all, his philanthropic ways, and for being one of the nicest person we've had the privilege to meet and be a part of the family. May you rest in peace.

My deepest Sympathy to you Renasha at this very difficult time for you on the passing of your loving dad & condolences also to Martin & your dad's wife Nisha & stepson . Reading above it seems your father was such an interesting & active person, generous & kind to others. No wonder then when God saw he was getting tired & a cure was not to be, he put His arms around him & whispered "Come to Me" . I am sure you are going to miss him very much; many vists you & family made to him to celebrate his birthday; hold on to those lovely memories & he will be whispering now to God to comfort & console you & your family. Love Pat x
