In memory of

David Kin Yee

July 4, 1958 -  February 1, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of David Kin Yee, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He passed away on February 1st, 2025 at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, following a heart attack at the age of 66.

Born in Sault Ste. Marie in 1958, David Kin Yee was the third of eight brothers and sisters born to Kim Chun Yee and Kam Hor Yee. His family settled in Toronto in 1968.

David earned his Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Toronto and subsequently obtained his Chartered Accountant designation. He was recognized on the UFE Honour Roll which represents the top 20 writers over the 4 day Chartered Accountant examinations. With his strong drive and work ethic, he went on to establish a successful accounting practice in Mississauga where he was devoted to helping his clients. He was a devoted Raptors fan and season ticket holder and an avid follower of motorsport. Although he would deny it, he grew to deeply love the family cat, Liger, and the other neighbourhood cats, Norberta and Jeff, who they welcomed into their home last year.

David is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years Denise Young, his son Ryan (Andrea), his son Matthew (Judy), his daughter Meagan, his grandson Evan, his parents Kim Chun (Kam Hor, passed on), his sister Susan (William), his brother William (Marina, passed on), his brother Alan (Frances), his brother Edward (Lai-Yee), his brother Raymond (Christine, passed on), his sister Carol, and brother Larry (Diane), and many nieces and nephews. As a husband, father, Ye Ye, son, and brother and to his extended family and their descendants, he was a devoted family man who prioritized his family over everything. He will be remembered by those who know and love him for his dedication, generosity, work ethic, and big dreams. We will miss his laughter, advice, and eagerness to help others.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Sunnybrook Schulich Heart Centre or Edwards Animal Sanctuary.

David was a brilliant Accountant who had my best interest at heart and went above and beyond. He always had a story and he loved a good chat! He thought differently and brought a new perspective to the conversation - every time. When it came to challenges or things he wasn’t 100% sure about, he was like a dog on a bone and would work at it until a solution was found.

I was shocked to hear the news as we spoke a day or two earlier. He will never be replaced and missed deeply.

My condolences to the Yee family - he would speak of Denise and Kids often and know how much love he had for you all - especially the grandkids.

Rest in Peace David!

David and I became close friends over the 30 years he was my family’s trusted professional. We lived all of life’s personal milestones and business accomplishments together. His great mind and driven work ethic were extraordinary. His guidance was always on point and life's inevitable curveballs were often handled uniquely. David was exceptional. He toyed with challenging issues and found solutions. We chuckled when they worked. We swore when they didn’t. News of his passing came as a shock to all of us and much too soon. I swore. We will all miss him. I’ll particularly miss our annual late night Christmas Eve meetings. We will all certainly remember him. My family’s sincere condolences to the entire Yee family who he loved so much.
