In memory of

David Johnston

July 19, 1941 -  September 16, 2023

It is with sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of David Johnston at Hospice Vaughan on Saturday September 16, 2023 at the age of 82. Predeceased by his parents William and Annie Johnston. David is now reunited in heaven with his loving wife Leila (nee Charnley) predeceased March 30, 1998. Loving father of Lynn Johnston, cherished Granda to Giuliano, Joshua and Luca. Predeceased by his brothers Jim (Catherine) and George (Lena).

David was a quiet man with a kind heart. He loved his family endlessly and will be dearly missed by all his family and friends here in Canada and Northern Ireland.

Thank you to the compassionate, caring and supportive staff at Hospice Vaughan. Your care allowed David to pass away peacefully and provided our family with great comfort in his final days.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice Vaughan in memory of David Johnston.

A live webcast will be available on Friday, September 22, 2023 starting at 4:45 p.m. The link will be found at the top of the homepage at that time.

Close friends with Dave’s grandsons and family, I will miss having him around always wanting to help build things for the boys and always offering to build stuff for me if I needed something, and just being there hanging out with everyone enjoying his time. You could tell it really made his day when he could be around everyone and come out to the track. My pup crosby will definitely miss hanging out with him every time I brought him over, We will all dearly miss you

Dave was a staple of the track days in the last few years that I have spent with his grandchildren. It was amazing to see the passion he had when he was watching his grandkids race on track. Sorry to hear about the loss.

He will always be watching over making sure everyone is safe on and off the track
