In memory of

David Nicholson Ellis

July 8, 1928 -  September 25, 2016

Ellis, David Nicholson, CD; July 8, 1928 – September 25, 2016, passed away peacefully at Cummer Lodge in Toronto, Ontario. A native of St. Catharines, Ontario, David graduated from University of Western Ontario through Huron College in 1952. He spent the first thirteen years of his career in the Royal Canadian Air Force where, among other things he considered himself privileged to have flown with 422 (F) Squadron and 414 (AWF) Squadron. For the remainder of his working life he was in management at the University of Toronto and Queen’s University. He is survived by Mary, his wife and very best friend of 66 years. He will be dearly missed by his daughters Peggy (Teo), Carol (Dean), and Anne (Sonjoy), plus grandchildren Elizabeth and David. At David’s request he was cremated, and no service or ceremony took place. His ashes will be quietly scattered in places across Ontario that meant much to him. The family greatly appreciates the wonderful care and support he received from all of the staff at Cummer Lodge in his final years and days.

I met Mr and Mrs Ellis early in my childhood during their stay in France.
Peggy quickly became my playmate and with my mother, we spent some beautiful time together at their home.
Not too long ago, Peggy and her friend visited us in Montigny les Metz and we went to see the house called "Corolla" where they lived. It was such an emotional moment...
I will always have fond memories of Mr Ellis.
May he rest in peace.

We never physically met but exchanged messages,my favorite memory is when I sent him an update, his reply was succinct and to the point - noted, was his reply. This to me spoke volumes, as I have worked and enjoyed the brevity that some people can employ in their day to day routine.
