It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Dave Clipsham, on Tuesday Aug 29, 2023, at Belmont House Long-term Care Home on his 84th birthday, with his wife and daughters at his bedside. Beloved husband of 48 years to Harue (Sakato) Clipsham. Loving father to Karen Matsumoto (Jason) and Jennifer Clipsham (Patrick). Much loved Grandpa to Audrey and Clara Matsumoto.
He was predeceased by his twin brother, Bill. Dave is survived by his dear sister Jane, sister-in law Dianne and brother Fred, cherished nieces and nephews Sheila (Ian), D'Arcy (Kerry), and Tom (Dorota). He was a proud great uncle to Ophelia, Sydney, Emery, Branwen, Wesley and Scarlett.
Born in Toronto to the late Muriel (Greene) and William Baldwin Clipsham, David spent his formative years in Regina, attending Central Collegiate, and then the University of Saskatchewan. A man of many interests, David enjoyed world travel in his 20's and 30's joining a kibbutz, climbing Kilimanjaro, capturing his adventures on thousands of slides. He is remembered for his gift with languages, allowing him to quickly connect with people of many backgrounds in Toronto and on family trips. Once settled in Toronto, he enjoyed many sports including skiing, golfing, curling, cycling, hiking, sailing, swimming, and of course, watching the Blue Jays. In addition to being a Draftsman at Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, he was also a Union Secretary.
