In memory of

David Andrew Warren

May 8, 1943 -  June 30, 2024

David was born May 8,1943, and passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024, at the age of 81. He was surrounded by his family, reflecting the unwavering support he provided them throughout his life.
David is survived by his loving wife Cheri, with whom he shared almost 50 years of marriage, and their three children, Jamie Warren, Michael Warren, and Kelly Eldridge (Paul). He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren, Alexa, Cameron, Zoe, Spencer, Libby, and Violet.
David loved sports, politics and the outdoors – golfing, fishing, forest management, skiing, cutting trails, travelling, boating, and cottaging. These shared experiences, full of joy and laughter, have no doubt left a lasting footprint on the hearts of his family and friends.
David, a graduate of Upper Canada College and Ryerson, was born and raised in Toronto. He had an illustrious business career spanning 50 years including 37 years in Commercial Real Estate. He began his career at Xerox, and worked for Petro Canada, Campeau Corporation, Knowlton Realty and his most recent 22 years at Avison Young. David had a passion for real estate and stayed involved until his last days. He officially retired in 2017.
Outside of his family and career, David had a strong sense of duty to his community. He was actively involved in many non-profits including the Canadian Hearing Society Foundation, Toronto Zoo Foundation, The Alzheimer’s Society, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Nature Conservancy Canada, and Mono-Mulmur Citizens Coalition. In 1996, the Lieutenant Governor presented him with Toronto’s Volunteer Service Award.
David will be fondly remembered for his intellectual curiosity and readiness to lend an ear or a helping hand. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but his legacy of mentorship, love, commitment, and friendship will continue to inspire those who knew him well.
The family wishes to recognize the staff of St. Michael’s Hospital. In particular, Dr. Drew Brotherston, and the nursing staff on the 14th floor, for the outstanding and compassionate care provided.
A visitation will take place on July 15 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre. A memorial service will be held on July 16 in the chapel in the same location at 11:30am. There will also be a visitation that morning beginning at 10am and a reception at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation and/or Nature Conservancy Canada.

I met David over 30 years ago. My next door neighbours in Lytton Park were 2 widowed sisters who were moving into Briton House. As they had no family and were very elderly. I was concerned and I asked if they had a family friend that could help them when offers came in. They introduced me to David. He was so helpful and yet gentle with them. He never seemed rushed and was very happy to sit in their little front parlour on several evenings. They got the best advice and he also gave them sound financial advice. For lifestyle advise he told them to go on a cruise and enjoy life while they could as they were 88 and 91 and still very active.
From there our friendship continued as David and I worked together in real estate.
David was an excellent Commercial agent . I met many lovely people through Davids' introductions. He was a good friend and collected interesting people on his travels. He was very good in staying in touch with the residents of The Sheldrake.
Even though David had officially retired he never stopped watching the market and we enjoyed talking shop.
David and Cheri lived in the St George/Sheldrake condo for many years and he was the head of the Residents Association for many years. He was perfect in that role with his understanding of buildings and their workings.
David loved his neighbours and was always there as a friend and to help them through the loss of a loved one or the illnesses that arise as we all age.
Cheri and David were really a wonderful couple and so devoted to each other and their children it breaks my heart to hear of his passing.. Heather, Morgan & Sean

Dear Cheri :
We were so sorry to learn of David's passing this past weekend ; we understand that his health had been failing recently. Just as described in the obit - David was always a curious, intelligent, welcoming and caring friend. We definitely have been missing you folks at the farm in Adjala, and have many fond memories of socializing and celebrating Robbie Burns Day together with you two and Alexa. We apologize that we will be away overseas at the time of David's services, as we customarily are at this time. Please accept our deepest sympathies for you and your family,
With sympathy,
Neil, Heather & Ceilidh Fraser

We have such fond memories of working with David but more importantly for the wonderful social memories with David , Cheri and family. In addition working alongside David on Canadian Hearing Society matters in his work on behalf of the broader community. Our thoughts are with Cheri, Jamie, Michael and Kelly and the extended family at this time.
