It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel “Danny” Scheibli, aged 61, on September 21, 2024, in Oshawa. Daniel was a cherished friend, a devoted uncle, a steadfast partner, and the proudest of fathers. His lively spirit and generous heart brought warmth and light into the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him, leaving a lasting impression on each person he touched.
Born on October 21, 1962, in Scarborough, Danny was truly one of a kind; remembered for his larger-than-life personality, boundless kindness, mischievous spirit, and quick wit. His infectious humor could brighten any room, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
Danny devoted an impressive 45 years to union activism, ultimately serving as a CUPE National Staff Representative. His passion for his work was only surpassed by the deep appreciation he held for the relationships he nurtured throughout his career. He believed wholeheartedly in the power of solidarity and fought tirelessly for the rights and welfare of his fellow workers.
Family was at the core of Danny’s life. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, always making sure they knew he was just a moment away whenever they needed him. His family extended beyond his immediate relatives; he embraced a vast network of friends and families, all of whom he considered his own, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to nurturing those connections.
Daniel is lovingly remembered by his immediate family, which includes his siblings, Alex and Ginny, as well as his cherished nephews, Tyler, Jack, and Matthew. He is also survived by his beloved aunts and treasured cousins. Additionally, Daniel leaves behind his partner, Meaghan; his stepson, Jacob; and his young son, Ryan, who was truly the light of his life. Daniel's legacy of love, kindness, and activism will continue to inspire and resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Mass will be celebrated at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 717 Kennedy Road, Scarborough on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 10 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery, 625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough. Reception at Pine Hills Funeral Centre after the service at graveside, all are welcome. Danny would have welcomed donations to the local food bank in his memory.
