In memory of

Daisy Viola Wilkes

October 6, 1933 -  December 17, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Daisy Viola Wilkes, at the age of 91.

She was born in St. Peter’s parish, St. Kitts, West Indies to Ernest Augustus Philip and Ellen Whilhemina Philip (formerly Galloway).

She immigrated to the city of Leeds, England in 1954 at 21. She married Ronald Beltron Wilkes in 1956. In 1968, she immigrated to Canada with her five children.

She worked as a seamstress while in England and in Canada as an office cleaner, machine operator and retired at 57.

She is survived by her children: Youlinus, Goldwyn, Carmen, Rita, Derek, Calvin and Leon. Nephew and Niece: Peter and Ellen. Grandchildren: Denise, Jamila, Debbie, Denise A., Vivlyn, Sheldon, Deswyn, Christian, Adonika, Isayah R., Xavier and several great-grandchildren.

Despite dealing with arthritis and dementia, she enjoyed singing hymns and reciting biblical verses. She loved listening to Frank Sinatra, Glady Knight and Seal and watching her favorite comedy television show Sanford and Son and movies School of Rock and Home Alone.

She will be greatly missed.

Thank you for your condolences, support and your kind thoughts at this time of sadness. We will always remember your love with gratitude.

If you wish, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer Society (www.alzheimer.ca) or Heart & Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca).

It is with great sadness that I extend my deepest sympathy and condolences to the Wilkes family. Your mother was a sweet and dear mother to all who have had the pleasure of knowing her. Our mothers shared similar backgrounds and life experiences and your mother has always treated me, and made me and my family feel a part of her own.

Mrs. Daisy Viola Wilkes will be missed, but will always be remembered.

Much Love and Respect to the Wilkes family.

Dear Leon,

My heart is filled with sorrow and sadness for you and your Family. There is never a good time to lose a Family member. Especially your Mother. There is nothing like a Mother’s Love for her Children.

I pray the Lord gives you the Strength and Courage to let her go into his Loving Arms.

The Lord knows best and he is shepherding your Mom to her next station in Life.

Good Bless,

Ian David and Family
