In memory of

Costas Ioakim

March 13, 1927 -  May 6, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear Father, Papou and Great-Grandfather Costas on May 6th in his 95th year of life. He is our rock, our inspiration, our mentor. He is now with his beloved wife, Martha of 74 years, his sons Sam & Andy, together again watching over us all. Dad touched many lives and will be truly missed by all who knew him.Dad served as a proud member of the British Army in the Second World War. He traveled to Canada from his beloved country of Cyprus in 1965 to make a better life for his family, and what life we had. He worked hard to instill his family values in all of us. Raising 8 children, 15 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Our Patriarch, our story teller, our joker, and our very own home priest. He was our Google! He loved his family. He was grateful for the smallest of things. Forever in hearts, our memories will always be cherished.

We love you dad, travel in peace, give a big kiss and hug to Mom, Sam & Andy.

Ευχαριστώ παππού για όλα που μας έχεις δώσει.

We leave you with dad's last words to us: "I always smile!"

Niki Ioakim

I grew up with our father Savvas & mother Chrisi, We were eight children, 5 brothers, Chris, Nick, Charlie, myself, and Andrea & 3 sisters, Effimia, Irene, and Elpida, in the mountain village of Drouseia, Cyprus. We had a meager but abundant life.

I met and married the love of my life, Martha, in Limassol, Cyprus, in 1947. As I served in the army, Martha, took care of family and home, as well as her own siblings. My love and I had 7 children in Limassol, Savvas, Marie, Yiannis, Phillipos, Andrea, Sophia and Niki. In 1965, I travelled from my beloved Cyprus, with my son Savvas, to Toronto, and I worked hard to gather enough money to have, Martha, and the other 6 children travel to Canada. We had our last child Demetra, in Toronto. We lived a good life, a very full life, as you could imagine.

My children have since graced Martha and I with, 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Life was very full. We have had a life of fulfillment, from good and bad, whatever the situation, we were always a family.

I lost my beloved on November 3rd, 2020, and today I am reunited with her.
