It comes with great sadness to announce the passing of Kostas Constantine Kariotis.
Kostas was born September 21, 1964 in Montreal, Quebec Canada, and passed away peacefully June 24, 2021 in Toronto, Ontario Canada.
He is survived by his Mother Anna Giannoula Kariotis, Sisters Andrea Kariotis (Helen Sister-in-law), Sister Maria Kariotis, Nephew Miguel George Kariotis. Pre-deceased Father George Kariotis.
Kostas was an avid athlete. With many gold metals achieved, in the 50 and 100 meter dash along with countless medals in track and field. Throughout high-school he played in football, soccer, and basketball. He was involved with all types of sports. He was a Superstar.
His biggest sports triumph was being scouted to play for the Worlds Cosmos Soccer Team.
Kostas was diagnosed at the young age of 16 with Multiple Sclerosis MS. He was one of the youngest people ever diagnosed with this dreadful disease.
After being diagnosed with MS Kostas took on the role of being an active member of the MS society.
Being very actively involved with the MS Society Kostas and his Father George would give out carnations every Mother’s Day through the MS Society to raise money and make donations to the society.
Making headlines on covers of newspapers, and interviews with CityTV, kept him busy. His TV interviews didn’t only start with him being involved with the MS society, it started long before when he would claim metals in sports and carried unbeatable records.
Kostas had the zest for life, even with his disease, he never let it bring him down. He loved life and touched so many people. Kostas would be a guest speaker at York University and many other platforms through the MS society on educating people about the disease and what it was like to live with it.
Kostas’ smile and laugh was infectious. He would joke and always wanted to make those around him feel happy. And happy is how he made everyone feel. He touched many peoples lives in so many ways.
But his favorite thing next to sports and smiles was food. He could eat till he would explode (toasted clubhouse, heavy mayo).
Family was very important to Kostas and he treated all his friend and everyone he touched as family. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
Due to Covid limitation, visitation will be limited to immediate family only.
