In memory of

Constantine (Gus) Niarchos

September 2, 1939 -  June 13, 2021

At 81 years of age, our dear and beloved Constantine (Gus) Niarchos, was called to be with the Lord.

Beloved husband to Maria Niarchos. Devoted and loving father to his three daughters, Julie (Matthew), Dimitra (Andreas), Joanna (Athanasios). Proud and loving grandfather, who will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Charalambos, AnnaMaria, Konstantina, Anastasia, Costa and Maria. Brother to the late Yianni (Voula). Survived by his brother Nicholas (Faye), and sisters Panayiota (George) and Antonia (Dimitri). He will also be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews both here and in Greece.

Born in Dorio, Messenia, Greece, to Elias and Maria Niarchos, he came to Canada in 1959 with his family in search of greater opportunities. Constantine first settled in Stratford, Ontario where he and his family opened a local restaurant. Through correspondence and photos, he was introduced to his wonderful wife of 56 years, who came from Greece to join him. They were married in 1965 and were blessed with three daughters. Constantine relocated his family to Toronto, Ontario to more favourably prosper from the opportunities of a larger city. Constantine and his wife became successful entrepreneurs in the dry cleaning business for many years, often working long hours which reflected their very strong work ethic.

Constantine’s dedication to his family and unconditional love was guided by his strong devotion to his Orthodox faith. Constantine exemplified “philotimo”. He lived by example through his continuous involvement and generous support of countless Orthodox Churches, Monasteries and numerous charities. His door was always open, and his most cherished moments were when he was surrounded by family and friends. He will be fondly remembered for his kindness, humour and love of life.

Kalo paradiso. May your memory be eternal. You will be in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers, Constantine’s wishes were to support those in need. We are including two charities below which would welcome any assistance:

I’ve lost you and I’m so sorry for not telling more often that I love you.
I love you dad, until we meet again.
