In memory of

Constantin Barbopoulos

February 2, 1939 -  April 3, 2020

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gus Barbopoulos. He died peacefully at home with his family by his side on April 3, 2020 after a courageous battle with stomach cancer and a neurological condition, ataxia. Gus was born in Mati, Korinthias, Greece on February 2nd, 1939 to John and Konstantina. He immigrated to Canada in 1964 and proudly worked at the TTC for 32 years.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Bassie. He was the proud father of three wonderful children, Constantina & Peter Smilis, Maria & Eric Karailiadis and John & Michelle Barbopoulos. ‘Pappou Dino’ will be dearly missed by his 7 loving grandchildren, Melina, Alyssa & Vianna Smilis and George, Kosta, Eleni & Vasiliki Karailiadis. He was a dear brother to Katerina, Panos, Georgios, Apostolis, Christos, Areti and Stathis. He was also a dear brother-in-law to Diane and Nick Diamantakos, Tonie Janikas, John and Voula Janikas. He will be greatly missed by his many cousins, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and Godchildren.

A private funeral for the immediate family will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery on Monday, April 6th at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to ‘Ataxia Canada’ ataxie@lacaf.org
