MOTHER
Your soft breast was the first pillow for my head,
Your soothing arms my first warm and cuddly bed.
Your gentle touch wiped away my first tears,
Your sweet voice the first lullaby sung in my ears.
I always knew that you loved me like no other,
Yet I didn’t understand till I too became a mother.
Thank you for everything you’ve taught me to be,
For the mother in you reflects the mother in me.

A Reading from the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians

We are not discouraged;
rather, although our outer self is wasting away,
our inner self is being renewed day by day.
For this momentary light affliction
is producing for us an eternal weight of glory
beyond all comparison, as we look not to what is seen
but to what is unseen; for what is seen is transitory,
but what is unseen is eternal.

For we know that if our earthly dwelling, a tent,
should be destroyed, we have a building from God,
a dwelling not made with hands, eternal in heaven.

The Word of the Lord.

MY MEMORIES OF OMA - COOKING
“That was one thing me and Oma did a lot, we would cook a lot together. We would cook spaetzle, schnitzel… sometimes we would bake cookies and cakes for special occasions like Birthdays. Those are some of my memories I have of her. There are plenty more I could choose from, but, as I said before, those really stood out to me… I love you Oma.”
