In memory of
Connor James Beck
October 14, 2002 -
May 12, 2022
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden and tragic death of Connor James Beck.
At 19 years of age, with a future of purpose and promise, as an active Army Reservist, Connor was participating in a military hiking exercise when he simply collapsed; cause of death is not known at this time.
Connor is the beloved son of James and Carrie Beck, and cherished big brother to Elizabeth Beck. Treasured Grandson of Ann Barclay, Mississauga, and Bryan Perdue and Nancy Prendergast, Orangeville. He is a much loved member of a very large family of Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins, and was a devoted best friend/bonus brother to both Cole Beck and Brenden Cabral. We take comfort that Connor is now in the arms of his late grandparents, George and Catherine Beck (St Lawrence, NFLD), and Alec Barclay, Mississauga.
Connor was very active in his community and was fortunate to have several friend groups from school, and his years with the Brampton hockey, baseball, and lacrosse leagues. He will be remembered by his colleagues from the City of Brampton Recreation where he worked part time for several years, and missed by his unit mates from the Lorne Scots Army Reserve.
Connor was simply a great young man with the world before him. He was always busy and curious, unwavering in his dependability, devotion, and dedication to those he loved, supported by a strong foundation of family, spirituality, and civic values. From paper routes to working skating sessions and hockey games to the Army Reserves, he always went above and beyond. Connor graduated from Heart Lake Secondary School in 2020, and was a student at Humber College completing a Police Foundation Certification with plans to pursue a career with the police force or border services.
One of Connor’s many passions, through his Haudenosaunee heritage of his maternal great grandfather, was his allyship for Indigenous youth. Family flowers only - in lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a Tribute Donation to Indspire, a national Indigenous registered charity that invests in the education of First Nations, Inuit and Métis youth.
