In memory of

Comfort Werekoaa Boafo Adade

February 28, 1948 -  October 29, 2022

It is with profound sadness that The Asakyiri Abusua of Asante Akim Wankyi, and the Bretuo family of Boankra, announce the passing of their daughter Comfort. Comfort was the beloved family matriarch of the Mahama family. She passed away on October 29th in her 74th year surrounded by loved ones. Born in Agogo, Ghana on February 28 1948, predeceased by her father Timothy E. Adade, and her mother Paulina P. Adomako, as well as 10 of her 12 siblings. She was the youngest of 13 children, and is connected to a very large and vivacious Ghanian family lineage. Comfort was the cherished life partner to Issaka Mahama, and proud mother to Patrick, Eric and Gifty. In addition to her children, she is survived by her grandchildren Marika, Nickaya, Camron, Hanna, Gabriel and Darius, and great-grandchildren Amari and Ahlani. Comfort will also be dearly missed by her remaining living siblings Florence and Ebenezer, as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her love and devotion was felt by everyone around her. We will miss her laughter, singing, cooking, her interest in the latest African fashion trends, her passionate spiritual beliefs, and her sense of humour. She had a magnetic smile, and absolutely loved to be around family. In addition to raising her own children she was pivotal in helping to raise many of her siblings' children, and was considered to be one of the ‘favourite’ aunts. She was a proud Ghanian, and was deeply connected to her homeland. We would often hear her talking to friends and family about her love for Ghana, and the various communities and regions that shaped her upbringing.

For many years, Comfort served as a community care personal support worker, assisting elderly patients with their home care needs within the city of Toronto. She was a devout member of the Greenwood First United Pentecostal Church of Toronto, where she loved to sing, attend church conferences and camps, work and socialize with her church family, and deepen her relationship with God. She truly enjoyed church, and she absolutely loved being in the presence of God.

The Asakyiri Abusua of Asante Akim Wankyi, the Bretuo family of Boankra, as well as the Mahama family of the late Comfort Werekoaa Boafo Adade deeply appreciate your support and prayers during this difficult time. May she rest in peace.

Both the viewing and the funeral services will be held at the York Funeral Centre, located at 160 Beecroft Road, North York, Ontario, M2N 5Z5, Canada. A visitation will be held on Saturday December 3 2022 between 12:30pm - 1:00pm. The funeral service will commence at 1:00 pm, followed by the interment which will take place at the York Cemetery (Section 30).
