In memory of

Colin Edwin Garth Reigate

July 19, 1933 -  March 24, 2024

Peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Sunday March 24th, 2024, at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Winnie (Yam) Reigate (2011) and proud father to his sons Damon (Janik) and Jason (Susann). Cherished Yeah Yeah to Gavin, Mackenzie, Jacob, Derek, and Tyler.

Colin was born in Purley, England and attended Whitgift School of which he was a proud Alumni. After graduation, he joined the Royal Artillery in England, serving in Malaya and Hong Kong. He completed his military service in the Corps of the Military Police. In December 1955; he embarked on a new career as a Sub-Inspector for the Royal Hong Kong Police Force, retiring with the rank of Chief Inspector in 1984, having completed 33 years of service to the Crown. He was awarded the Colonial Police Long Service Medal in 1973 and the First Clasp to the medal in 1980 in honor of his valuable service.

Upon retirement in 1984, Colin and his family immigrated to Canada to join extended family already established in Guelph and started a jewellery retail business, opening a store at Yonge and Dundas. The business was successful for 15 years until Colin and Winnie decided to retire and enjoy traveling, gardening and most importantly savoring time with their grandchildren.

He was a respected 32nd degree Mason, in good standing with Rehoboam Lodge No. 65, Anniversary Lodge No. 733 and Trafalgar Lodge No. 72.

Colin will be forever cherished and honored in the hearts of all who knew him. As per his wishes, a private Celebration of Life will be held in his memory.

In his usual manner and sense of humor he left us with these words “Did not quite meet expectations”.

W.Bro. Colin Reigate was the lead interviewer of the investigation committee that examined my application to join the Craft. He was an exemplary and fine Mason, who did a great service to the order; I remember his guidance and teachings, which help me to become the Mason I am today. May his soul rest in peace in the Grand Lodge above!
