Chung Yick “Harry” Quan passed away peacefully at Scarborough Centenary Hospital on May 1, 2022 at the age of 92. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 74 years, Kim, and their son, Douglas (Tanya de Reus). He was the proud grandfather of Jacob, Bridget, and Maxine. He will be forever in the hearts of brother-in-law Ken Chow (Grace), nieces Ceanne and Niva and nephew Jason. Harry grew up in rural China and immigrated to Canada at age 22 and became a proud Canadian. Kim joined him several years later in Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan and the two embarked on a journey together eventually settling in Saskatoon where they vigorously operated retail grocery businesses. Harry retired at the early age of 49 after a serious illness. For the ensuing 43 years, he led a private, quiet life focused on regaining his health and on his small family. In 1999, Harry and Kim moved to Scarborough where they continued their route through life. They were inseparable. His family expanded with the arrival of his grandchildren which added a new sparkle and vibrance to his life. Harry had simple pleasures some of which included hunting fowl, enjoying large amounts of food, watching professional wrestling and was an avid walker. We will miss him dearly. If desired, please direct memorial donations to the Scarborough Health Network.
