In memory of

Chung Fun Szeto

August 19, 1942 -  January 29, 2021

Szeto, Chung Fun – It is with profound sadness that the Szeto family announces the passing of the family patriarch at the age of 78. His final request was fulfilled when Chung Fun passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on the morning of January 29, 2021.

Beloved husband of Margaret for over 50 years, he was the proud father of Katherine (Stijn), Tina, Isabella (Paul), and Victor (Hannah), and doting grandfather to Luca, Mia, Sacha, Clara, Evelyn, Elliott, Colin, and Martin.

A man of few words, Chung Fun provided for his family as a partner in the family restaurant business, Finch Garden, and later opened his own establishment, Aster Garden. While the hours in the restaurant business were long and at times tedious, he enjoyed spending his weekly day off with his children as they grew up.

The family immigrated to Canada from Hong Kong in the early 1980s with very little financial means, but with the hopes of a better future for his family. This dream was realized when his children completed their university studies and developed successful careers in their chosen professions.

After retiring over 15 years ago, he enjoyed directing operations in the family garden, numerous family dim sums and dinners, cooking, travelling to Hong Kong and China, and treating his friends for dinner at Casino Rama.

Chung Fun was friendly, generous with his family and friends, and will be greatly missed.

The family extends its thanks to the staff at North York General Hospital for the care provided over the past year.

A service and interment with immediate family will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021, and a celebration of his life with friends and family will take place at a later date.
