In memory of

Chun-Wah Cheung 張振華先生

July 13, 1935 -  July 17, 2020

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Chun-Wah Cheung, a beloved husband and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Chun-Wah was born on July 13, 1935 in Tai On Village of Yan Ping Township in the Province of Guangdong in China. His diligence and studiousness had enabled him to pursue medicine at the Guangxi University. He was married to his high school sweetheart Sau-Har in 1956. Due to political and economic instabilities at the time, Chun-Wah had to abandon his medical study and move his family to Hong Kong. To support his family, Chun-Wah had worked in a variety of jobs ranging from accounting, cargo transportation, grocery store business to eventually running a taxi business in Hong Kong. In order to provide a better future for his family, Chun-Wah immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1975 where he worked in the restaurant business until retirement. He enjoyed spending time with family, preparing elaborate and scrumptious meals for family gatherings, caring for his grandchildren, gardening and travelling both across Canada and abroad with Sau-Har. He was a loving husband, devoted father and a generous friend to those who knew him.

Chun-Wah was 85 years old and is dearly missed by his dear wife Sau-Har of 64 years, his children Katherine (Andrew) Cheng, Brian (Laurie) Cheung and Jennifer (Ian) Trinidad, his grandchildren Mark (Wai Yan) Cheng, Jeffrey Cheng, Leland Cheung, Kyra Trinidad and Wesley Cheung, and great granddaughter Abigail Cheng. Chun-Wah’s kindness and generosity touched everyone and he will be missed by all.

In light of COVID19, a private funeral service for Chun-Wah will be held at 11:00 am on August 1, 2020 at the Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre (625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough, ON M1K1R1).

Friends and relatives are invited to join this funeral service virtually. On the day of the funeral, a link to the live webcast will appear on the top of this memorial/obituary webpage. This link will be available about 5-10 minutes before the start of the scheduled funeral service at 11am EST on Saturday August 1st.
Please find the funeral service program under Media tab > Documents.
