In memory of

Chuen Tai Lee

February 1, 1937 -  December 5, 2024

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Chuen Tai Lee, passed away of natural causes on December 5, 2024, at the age of 87.

Chuen Tai was born in Kai Ping, Guangdong, China. She was married in 1955 and had five children in Toronto. She was the heart and home of the family. She was an experienced seamstress and a master of embroidery beading, working for various companies in the former Garment District in Toronto, now called the Fashion District prior to her retirement.

In her spare time, she had a flair for whipping up her signature dumplings and pastries which were a treat for her family and friends. Having lived in downtown Toronto most of her life, one of her daily routines was taking a stroll to Kensington Market and Chinatown to do her grocery shopping where she would always bump into friends and catch up on the latest news.

Chuen Tai was a vibrant and spontaneous person, always positive with an infectious smile. Her outgoing nature took her to casino outings and playing mahjong with friends. She also enjoyed playing chess and watching Chinese videos.

She was a doting, attentive and loving grandmother who had a special bond with each of her grandchildren. Chuen Tai’s great sense of humour and warmth made her a very popular grandmother. Her schedule was kept full because she was always in high demand for babysitting.

Chuen Tai Lee was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, Mang Lin who was also her soul mate and devoted companion.

Chuen Tai was a proud mother to Jean Chu, Kim Ping (Wendy), May Light (Norman), Gee Ping (Anna), and John Ping (Sandra); and loving grandmother to Janice (Jesse), Sarah (Andrew), Adrienne, Chloe, Penny, Jonathan (Karmen), Jeffrey, Ryan (Laura), Nicole (John-Francis), Brandon (Selina) and Michael; and loving great-grandmother to Colette and Ava. She was predeceased by a brother and leaves behind two brothers, one sister, sisters-in-laws, brother-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

Chuen Tai Lee was a beautiful and amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed. Her memory will forever be in our hearts.

A donation may be made to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre or Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital.

At times like these it hard to find words. Although we did not merit to meet your mom, I rely on an age old adage, "The apple does not fall far from the tree". In the over 25 years that we have known you, we have always seen a fine caring gentleman. That speaks volumes about your parents.
We pray that the wonderful memories you have of your parents should comfort and console you in these difficult times.
