It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christos Rombos on September 26, 2024 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of 63 years to Ioanna Rombos, loving father to Lee and Tim, and proud grandfather to Thomas, Christian, Christopher and Janna.

Christos was a hard-working businessman who helped open and run multiple restaurant concepts alongside his wife and two sons. His knowledge and experience in the kitchen helped spur the creation of multiple recipes which are enjoyed by hundreds of Big Bone BBQ and Memphis BBQ customers every day.

When he wasn’t in the restaurant, Christos and his wife, Ioanna, were at church volunteering. Christos and Ioanna were one of the founding couples of the fellowship at St. Panteleimon Greek Orthodox Church of Markham. They could be found every Sunday morning helping out at the church bright and early. Christos also enjoyed volunteering at the St. Panteleimon festival and preparing all the meats for thousands of people over the years.

Christos was a beacon of stoicism to everyone around him, although people who knew him would admit he was a little rough around the edges. However, Ioanna worked hard to mould Christos over the years and his soft spot really came out when he was around his grandchildren. He would host family dinners every Monday to gather all his children and grandchildren to enjoy one of the many wonderful meals he would prepare alongside his wife. Nothing brought him a smile quite like enjoying a meal together as a family.

Christos leaves behind a legacy of integrity, loyalty, generosity, and hard-work that all should aspire to live up to. His presence will be deeply missed but his memory will live forever. It is time for him to join his soulmate.

The following arrangements have been made for Christos Rombos on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024:
* 10:00am-11:00am: Public viewing at St. Panteleimon Greek Orthodox Church of Markham (11323 WARDEN AVE, MARKHAM, ON L6C 1M9, CA)

* 11:00am-12:00pm: Funeral Service at St. Panteleimon Greek Orthodox Church (11323 WARDEN AVE, MARKHAM, ON L6C 1M9)

* Immediately following the Funeral Service, the burial will take place at Elgin Mills Cemetery (1591 Elgin Mills Road East
 Richmond Hill, ON L4S 1M9)

* After the burial, all are welcome to join Christos’ friends and family at St. Panteleimon Greek Orthodox Church of Markham (11323 WARDEN AVE, MARKHAM, ON L6C 1M9) for a Memorial Luncheon in honour of Christos
