In memory of

Christopher Paul Luttor

January 2, 1954 -  March 26, 2025

Christopher Luttor, cherished husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, at the age of 71, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 2, 1954, in Ponteix, Saskatchewan, Christopher was the son of the late Dr. Charles Luttor and Maria Luttor. He is survived by his wife Eleanor; his mother Maria; children Graeham and Adrienne; siblings Charles Luttor (Cheryl Stanton), Krisztina Luttor (the late Peter Brand) and Carol Taylor (Jim); as well as his sisters-in-law Dr. Barbara Liu (Dr. Dave McNeely) and Donna Liu (Howard Munro); brother-in-law Bill Liu; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Christopher’s education and work history are diverse. He grew up in Toronto and attended De La Salle College. After graduating from École Hôtelière de Lausanne, Switzerland he returned to Canada and trained as a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic at Centennial College. He then spent five years on the family farm, Bala Hi, in Uxbridge, where he raised pigs and grew corn. Always a curious learner, Christopher returned to school and graduated from McMaster University (B.A.) and the University of Toronto (MIR). After Christopher and Eleanor married, he went on to establish a successful career in the insurance industry (Sun Life Financial Inc). He built his business through personal connections, providing individualized, face-to-face service to every client.

Christopher was known for his lively conversations, passion for the outdoors (especially fishing), handyman skills and steadfast work ethic. Family meant everything to Christopher. As the father of Graeham and Adrienne, he took great joy being in their company and took great pride in their athletic and intellectual pursuits. He was a constant source of strength, guidance, and love. Christopher taught them the values of unconditional love, responsibility, perseverance, and to have an appreciation for the great outdoors, leaving a deep and lasting influence on their lives.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Drs. J. Myers, R. Goldman, K. Wasson, H. Wong, G. Sirianni, R. Chahade, S. Ghedira, K. Higgins, N. Sands, J. Mills, the Home Care team of coordinators, nurses, OTs and PSWs plus the dedicated staff at Sunnybrook and Bridgepoint Hospitals for their exceptional care.

A celebration of Christopher’s life will take place on Friday, April 4, at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in his memory.

Met Chriss in 1996, we worked together at Mutual Life of Canada which went to become Clarica and now Sun Life, he taught me many things about the insurance business including going to construction sites where he had this technic of handing out Carpentry Pencils with his name on them but if a prospect said to him I am ok I don’t want to deal with you , he would say “ ….. Oh terrific, can I have my pencil back then”…..he was business to the core, colour coded credit cards CIBC red, TD Green RBC blue etc, each one used for a certain expense and so on and on, and when we discussed political issues he would pull words as Nebulous, Gaseous etc I will miss him a lot!

Our sincere condolences go out to the Luttor family at this difficult time. My family holds fond memories of Christopher and family having us as guests at The Franklin Club for the kid's fishing derby each summer. He was a master at fishing and enjoyed showing the kids how to hook, catch and clean the fish. Christopher was a sports enthusiast and shared the love of baseball with his son. Graeham, one of the last conversations I had with your father was when he told me how proud he was of your international baseball journey. Adrienne, you were his little princess. Watching him smile at you as you did your little twirls at your dance recital was unforgettable. Standing next to you for prom photos or at your graduation, you just knew how honoured he was to be your father. Eleanor, always know that a piece of Christopher's heart will always be with you and may the wonderful memories you shared with him carry you through the days ahead. May he rest in eternal peace.
