In Loving Memory of Christine O'Donnell (nee Firlotte)
January 25, 1951 - June 20, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Christine O'Donnell, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She departed this world peacefully at the age of 72 with family by her side after a short stay in Palliative Care. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering determination.

Born in Montreal, to Georgette and Desmond Firlotte. Christine was the eldest of seven children. She brought joy and warmth to the lives of all who knew her. She had a generous spirit, a passion for history and travel, and a love for themed celebrations. She brightened every room with her smile. As a retired professional chartered accountant, she dedicated herself to a lifelong career in the banking industry, making notable contributions along the way. She became the first female president of the Toronto Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Christine's love for her family knew no bounds. She met the love of her life, Frank O’Donnell (deceased 2001), while on a Russian Winter Arts Festival Tour. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Norah O'Donnell (Rida Al Barazi). Norah brought immense joy and fulfillment to her life and was her caregiver for her last years. Her grandchildren, Yara and Orla were the apples of Christine's eye, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She felt love from many of her family members, friends and caregivers.

In times of challenge, Christine's courage and adventurous spirit shone brightly. We mourn her loss, but we also celebrate her extraordinary life. Her memory will forever inspire us to embrace determination, love without boundaries, and face life's challenges with unwavering strength and humor.

A celebration of Christine's remarkable life will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at The Simple Alternative Funeral Centre in Pickering. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in honoring her memory. The family wishes memorial contributions be made to the Scarborough Health Network Foundation in her honour.

Christine and were around the same age and I have fond memories of us playing together as kids. We got together when we were staying with our respective 'other grandmothers' who were friends, her Grandma Firlotte and my Nana Pennycook, in Montreal West. I recall her kindness when she and her lovely daughter came to my Dad's Funeral in 2001.

Dear Norah and family,
We are so sorry to hear of Christine’s passing. She is in a better place and am sure she is meeting up with Georgie & Des, Noëlla & Roger, Rosemarie, Uncle John and Aunt Lois, Laurel, mon oncle André & tante Janine, and most recently with cousin André. Christine and Rosemary had a very close relationship and Rosie shared with us their many adventures together. We are thinking of all of you at this most difficult time and praying for you, especially tomorrow.
Love,
Margo & Ian and family

Rest in piece Christine. We are the closest in age cousin wise, both born in 1951. She was pretty, kind, and very considerate. I remember around 1970 when I had a Triumph motorcycle and Christine was visiting my parents house by Lac St. Louis. She asked me for a ride, so away we went for about half an hour. She wore my helmet, I did not. Boy she loved that... the wild side came out! Probably the only time she was on a motorcycle. There's a picture of this somewhere.
Lovely pictures in this memorial and lovely guestbook entries.
My deepest condolences to Christine's family.
