October 25, 2021
Chon Wood (Woody) Tang, 89 years old, of Scarborough, Ontario succumbed to cancer at Providence Healthcare on Monday, October 25th, 2021.
Woody is survived by his wife of 71 years, Song Hai, daughters Gail Rogers and Karen McKay, sons-in-law Tom and Paul, and loving grandchildren Brendan, Cailin, Kurt, and Mei Len. Woody was a doting grandfather, as well as being a surrogate grandfather to the children of close family friend, May Kay Chiu.
Woody loved sports, especially hockey. His favorite team was the Toronto Maple Leafs. When he was a young man he was a very active volleyball player and an avid practitioner of Tai Chi. He spent his free time watching sports on TV, and he also liked to read. Most notably, Woody was always there to help his immediate family, friends and neighbours with whatever they needed, especially help with their gardening projects.
A special thank you to the staff and volunteers at Centenary Hospital and Providence Healthcare for their loving care and support during his final days. The family would also like to thank Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre, especially Melissa Agar, for being so accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.
Woody will be laid to rest at Pine Hills Cemetery on Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021 at 11.00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
