Cho Fun Chee (John) was born to Yuk Man Chee and Kwan Ying So on the 17th day of the 12th lunar month 1946. He died peacefully on the morning of November 17, 2021 in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Leaving China for a better life, he moved to Guyana where his family opened a grocery store in Georgetown. John immigrated to Canada in 1972 and took a job as a cook in Thompson, Manitoba later making his way to Toronto where his family opened a grocery store at 1001 Eglington Ave West.

John married Cheung King Wong on March 26, 1976 in Hong Kong. He is survived by his wife, two sisters, a brother, two sons and two grandchildren.

John was an avid fisherman. When he was not hard at work you could find him on any one of the many lakes in Ontario trying his luck at catching the big one or at the kitchen table creating the perfect lure to use on his next outing.

Funeral services will be held at Elgin Mills Cemetery 1591 Elgin Mills Road East, Richmond Hill, Ontario, L4S 1M9 starting at 9:30am. A vaccine passport is not required for the Interment portion of the service starting at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers a donation to Hill House Hospice where John’s final days were made comfortable are welcome.
