In memory of

鍾卓星Chiek Sing Chung

November 16, 1950 -  February 16, 2025

Chiek Sing (Simon) Chung, aged 74, passed away on February 16, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Born on November 16, 1950, in Sun Wai, Guangdong, China to Goap Young and Kuan Ang Chung. Simon came to Canada in 1979, living first in Victoria, British Columbia before moving to Toronto, Ontario in 1989, where he worked as a cleaner at Sunnybrook Hospital until he retired in 2021 after 31 years of service.

An avid gardener, Simon spent countless hours tending to his flowers and vegetables each year, always documenting his efforts with plenty of photographs and happily sharing his harvest with neighbours, friends and family. He loved hosting family gatherings, filling the dining table with his famous dishes and taking the opportunity to offer advice to the younger generations with wisdom gained, in part, from daily reading of his favourite newspapers.

Simon was a devoted husband to Jean Doy, his loving wife of 44 years and a dedicated father to Wai Tong (Raymond) and Alice. He was also a proud grandfather to three grandchildren, Lucas, Nolan and Sophie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations can be made to the Sunnybrook Foundation (https://donate.sunnybrook.ca/tribute) in Simon’s memory.

Raymond and family,
My sincere condolences for your loss. Our prayers are with you and your family during these difficult times.
Your father was a well respected individual whom I have known for over three decades. Simon, as he was known to the Sunnybrook community, was a mentor and true leader to many staff, always with a pleasant smile in greeting his patients when he arrived at work. He will be fondly remembered and missed.
