In memory of

Chi Hop Chan 陳池洽先生

October 7, 1928 -  January 29, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Chi Hop Chan, who left us peacefully on January 29, 2025.

Chi Hop Chan was born in Toishan, Canton, China on October 7, 1928. One of nine children born to father Chan Chun Sheng and mother Ng Chin Kam, he immigrated to Canada from Hong Kong on February 10, 1974. A hardworking man, he spent over 20 years as a cook at KFC, providing for his family.

On March 5, 1945, he married Lai Ching, and together they had six children. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather to 13 grandchildren, and great-grandfather to 13 great-grandchildren.

His favorite pastime was reading the Chinese newspaper while sitting in his cherished lazy boy recliner. He treasured spending time with his family, especially during weekend dim sum gatherings. He enjoyed playing Mahjong and trying his luck at the casino slots. Though lucky at the casino, his greatest fortune was the love he received from family and friends. Until his final moments, he was surrounded by those who cherished him most.

Chi Hop will be fondly remembered for his hardworking nature, generosity, love of food, warm smile, unwavering dedication to his family, and his kind, loving spirit. He will be dearly missed.
