In memory of

Chesley Marion Rees

August 3, 1934 -  December 4, 2016

Peacefully at Mount Sinai Hospital on December 4th, 2016 at the age of 82. Loving wife of the Late John Rees and devoted mother of John (Rosemary), Kathryn (John) and Robert (Lynne). Proud grandmother of Alex, Ian and Dylan. Caring sister to George (Barb) and Kathy (the late Bruce). As a physiotherapist Chesley spent her career working with children with special needs and their families. Not only did she design infant programs, but she also trained and supported the volunteers who worked at Centennial Infant and Child Centre. Ches was well liked and respected as a warm, gentle and effective professional. She was a good listener who was never intrusive or judgemental. She was a truly beautiful soul who will be dearly missed. A visitation will be held at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre (375 Mount Pleasant Rd, Toronto; east gate entrance) on Friday December 9th 2016 at 12pm until the Celebration of her Life at 1pm in the chapel. In lieu of flowers donations in Chesley’ memory can be made to a charity of choice or to Centennial Infant and Child Centre.

Chesley and I have been friends for over 60 years. We have gone through many highs and lows in our lives together. For me, losing her is the lowest.
I send my sympathy and warm hugs to her family whom she adored.

Chesley's daughter Kathryn and I have been best friends since we were 4 years old. I think of Chesley as a surrogate mother - a powerful, caring force who demonstrated the best of what it means to be an exemplary woman, mother and friend. Evidence of this resides in every loving member of her family, all her adoring friends and all those she touched in her working life. She brought out the best in people with her warmth, generosity and unsinkable sense of humour. I loved how Chesley saved a special place in her heart for our son Doran. She was a genuine inspiration to me and I will treasure her influence always. All our love Arlene, Marc and Doran xoxox

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness I feel about Mrs. Rees passing away.
I hope that the love of family and friends will comfort and strengthen you in the days ahead.
I will always remember her smile and laugh.

I've known Ches for a very long time, mostly as the very dear friend of my mom (Jean Cockburn). I always hoped I'd have a friend like Ches and the relationship that I saw between my mom and her. Laughing often, telling each other everything and always there for each other.
Ches was a bit like another mom. Coming to see my shows and always supporting me. I will so miss her amusement at life and her ability to see the good in everyone.
I was lucky to know her. My heart goes out to her family.
