In memory of

Charlotte Sotirakos

August 26, 1966 -  August 17, 2023

With great sadness and a heavy heart, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Charlotte Lane Sotirakos. She was a caring wife, devoted mother, amazing sister, wonderful sister-in-law and loyal friend. She left the world unexpectedly on August 17, 2023, at the age of 56.
Charlotte was the cherished daughter of Bridie and the late James Lane. Beloved wife to Peter Sotirakos, loving Mother to Micaela and Thomas. Daughter-in-law to Potoula and the late Tom Sotirakos. Caring sister to Cheryl and Tony (Rochelle). Beautiful sister-in-law to Kiki (Joe) and Jimmy (Gloria). Adoring Aunt to Austin, Jordan, Sarah, Patricia, Thomas and Nicholas. She will be truly missed by aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and all who knew her.
She was born in Buchans Newfoundland and raised in Toronto, Ontario. Upon graduating she was employed by the Government of Canada with CMHC where she worked among friends until she passed. Upon meeting the love of her life, Peter, she embraced his Greek heritage alongside her Canadian roots. They were blessed with two beautiful children which were the center of her life. She was a supermom that could be found cheering from the hockey rinks to the soccer fields (and everywhere in between). Charlotte enjoyed travelling, boating, skiing (inside the chalet) and long nights surrounded by great company with a nice glass of wine. She loved to share many meals with her family and friends alike.
Charlotte was an incredible wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, and aunt who touched the hearts of everyone she met. She was kind, spirited, powerful, strong, vivacious and could light up the room with her beautiful smile.
Heaven gained another angel, and we know that wherever she is, she is watching over all of us, especially her children, Micaela and Thomas.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice.

My family and I are profoundly saddened by Charlotte's passing. There are no words to convey how deeply her absence will affect all those who knew and loved her. Before ever meeting her as an adult, I had heard stories about my cousin Charlotte from my parents. Determined, vivacious, strong and beautiful were what I expected, and that's exactly what Charlotte was, and what I will always remember. I am so thankful for Charlotte and Peter's kindness, they invited my family for dinner last summer and my boys still talk about that "awesome family". Charlotte will be remembered with love. We are sending heartfelt condolences to the Lane and Sotirakos families, and wish we could be there in person to do so. Sincerely, Julia, Boyd Coffin, sons Alex, Daniel and Thomas

I really wanted to share with Micaela and Thomas a memory I have of their mom -

Back quite a few years ago, when I was in my last year of high school (quite a few years ago now, lol), I was getting ready to go to post secondary. I had decided to audition for two music schools in Ontario. My parents and I came to Toronto and stayed with your Nan, your Aunt Cheryl and your mom. They lived in this cute townhouse and I thought they were so cool! After all, I was from small town Newfoundland and your mom and Aunt Cheryl were older than me and seemed very smart and brave and fashionable. They took me to a huge mall and to a movie - may seem like a small thing but to this girl, way back then, it was wonderful! I thought they were both so amazing and I was very impressed!
I remember one night, your dad came over to see your mom - they were just dating then. Aunt Bride told me that Peter was coming over and that he was a "very nice boy" lol
Your dad sat at the table in the kitchen and was just so kind and friendly. Which was really nice because I remember feeling so shy and awkward - being from small town Newfoundland, and now in the big city of Toronto! it was a bit overwhelming! Anyway, I remember standing around and watching your parents talking. And it was so obvious to my teenage self that here was this guy who was soooooooooo obviously madly in love with my cousin Charlotte! I remember being even more impressed with your mom then - I figured wow, she IS super cool. (excuse the language - it was the 90's, after all! lol) Every once in a while, it seemed like she was trying to play it really cool, too - hahaha - as if she didn't want us to know that she was totally in love with him, too - But she couldn't hide it. lol
I just wanted to share that with you. A little memory I still have to this very day that makes me smile. And you know what? Your mom had that crazy wonderful love for the both of you, too.
Love never leaves us. And she will always be with you and your dad.

Much love, Sarah Southwell.
