In memory of

Charles William Brunstrom

September 17, 1930 -  November 14, 2020

Charles (Chuck) Brunstrom passed away at the age of 90 peacefully after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Marilynn (Draper) and his children Lynn Hare (Blaine) and Karen Cutler (Fraser).

He was predeceased by his son Douglas, brother Robert and his parents Charles and Kathleen Brunstrom.

He was a proud and attentive grandfather of Luis Orozco (Melissa), Meagan Semelman (Grant), Jesse Orozco and Carolynn Hare. Proud great-grandfather of Luis Orozco, Chelsea Orozco, Hailey Semelman and Keira Semelman.

Dad will be remembered for his great sense of humour and his dedication to his family. He was an excellent writer, working in advertising the majority of his career, and always corrected our grammar.

He was an avid fan of horse racing and he spent many weekends with Marilynn attending races at Woodbine, with the occasional trip to Fort Erie. He taught all of his grandchildren how to read the racing form and loved to place bets on their behalf. He followed most of the Toronto sports teams and loved attending the games in person.

Dad spent as much time with his grandchildren as possible, attending their various sporting events, dance recitals and whatever interest they pursued. When organized hockey wrapped up as the grandkids became adults, he went to some of the beer league games and stayed to have beer with all the players.

Dad never liked running errands on the weekend alone, so he always made one of us tag along. It wasn't too bad because he usually bought us lunch. We also got to know our dad on these weekend outings. He always took the time to make us feel special.

Dad will be missed and we hope that he and Doug are now together discussing sports.

We’d like to thank the staff at Tyndall Seniors Village for taking such good care of Dad for the last 6 years. As his dementia progressed, he was surrounded by a team that truly cared for him. He didn’t have many words towards the end but always said “I love you” to everyone who interacted with him.

A private family service will be held and in lieu of flowers donations to The Alzheimer’s Society or Trillium Health Partners COVID-19 Support for Front Line Staff are appreciated.
