Charles Joseph McGrath

In loving memory of Charles Joseph McGrath who passed away early on the morning of October 25, 2022, in his 92nd year of life. Charles was surrounded by his loving family at Seven Oaks Long Term Care Home, in Scarborough, Ontario. Born on March 8, 1931, to “Charlie” and Sarah (Byrne), in Essen, Co. Tyrone, Ireland.

Loving Husband of Jessie McGrath (nee Barron/Davidson) (deceased May 2022). He is survived by his two brothers Paddy (Mary-Ann) and Jamie (Winnie) of Co. Tyrone, Ireland; his stepdaughters Irene Fisher (Stan deceased June 2022) and Lynne Freeland (Kirk). His Nephews Charles (Kerry) and Seamus (Colette) and Niece Mary (Vincent). Charles emigrated from Ireland to Toronto, Canada in 1953.

Charles was a very social person who enjoyed bartending at the Ulster Club. He also loved to dance and travel. Although he suffered with Alzheimer’s from 2002, he loved to dance and took every opportunity to dance with Irene, Lynne or a nurse that happened to be close by. He loved it when his wife, Jessie (known as The Piano Lady), would visit and play the piano for him.

Please join the family for his Celebration Of Life, on November 5, 2022 at: PINE HILLS CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough (north of St. Clair Ave. E., 416-267-8229), on Saturday November 5, 2022. Visitation will take place at 12:00 noon with the Service to follow at 1:00 p.m.. The scattering of both Charles and Jessie’s ashes will take place after the Service.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Canadian Alzheimer’s Association.
