Michael Chan passed away on February 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Michael was born in China, the son of Chung Ho and Woon Chai.

Michael married Lucy in 1970. He was an adoring husband, devoted father, and cherished grandfather.

Michael had a strong work ethic and held a variety of positions before he established himself as a business owner of a restaurant until his retirement.

Michael especially loved to travel and was an avid gardener.

Remaining to cherish Michael's memory are spouse, Lucy; children, Patrick, Bernie (Deborah), Brian (Rina); grandchildren, Jonathan, Emily; brother, Tom; sister, Joanne, Lina.

Preceding Michael in death are parents, Chung Ho, Woon Chai; brother, Richard; sister, Mary.

We will miss Uncle Mike! He was a favourite uncle, always happy and generous. A very hard worker, a great father and a loving husband. Rest in peace Uncle Mike. 🙏 ❤️

Our condolences.

Michael was a great long time friend who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Always enjoyed traveling with him near (Ottawa) and far (China).

He will be missed.

I grew up with his son Brian during the days of Mike’s Restaurant. We spent a lot of time at the restaurant with Michael and were around for a lot of what Michael was teaching Brian as a parent. Hard work, doing things to the best of your ability every time, being genuine. These were all things we saw and heard Michael teaching Brian over the years. Brian wasn’t the only one hearing and seeing those lessons. Thank you Michael :)

Fort Erie was lucky to have him and Mike’s Restaurant for as long as we did. Every burger I eat I feel like I compare to his. Much like him, it was the Gold Standard.
